Dear friends,

I'm not sure this is the appropriate forum, but I'm going to give it a shot - just let me know if this should be posted elsewhere.

In a nutshell, I am an ordained pastor in the PCA with a passion for discipling men (and families), and I am looking for whatever opportunity God has for me next. I'm looking for your advice on what steps I might take next.

By way of background, I have experience with college students, as well as medical students and healthcare professionals, as well as informal ministry to people in the church at large. My primary gifts are teaching and discipleship, with a special emphasis on taking the bible and helping people make it real in whatever situation they find themselves. I like to come alongside people and be available to them as they face daily life.

Right now, we have a support team that contributes about $4,500/month, so that gives us some flexibility in terms of options, as well as my ordination in the PCA.

Ultimately, I'd like to be part of something that is based locally (probably out of a specific church), but has a wider influence. I might spend most of my time in a local situation, with other portions of time helping others, and possibly even writing some, as my experience grows. I want to see churches become equipped to mentor their members, especially men and families!

Looking ahead, I feel like one next step is to gain some more experience for, say, the next 3-5 years. I'd like to continue developing my knowledge of what the scriptures have to say, test some ideas out, etc. The challenge will be finding the right venue for that.

In light of all this, I'd love to hear any advice you might have along the following lines...

* what sort of opportunities would you recommend me pursuing?
* do you know of any resources that would be especially helpful (other than those listed on the site)?
* what steps would you advise me to take to position myself to be where I'd like to be as outlined above?
* know of any specific opportunities out there, or people I should connect with?

PS Right now my search for something new is still relatively private, though I will be leaving my current position by June, 2008.
